It All Begins With A First Meeting
Hello, we are the BRIXITY team! With Early Access and the official release ahead of us, we want to start out by saying that we're happy to be able to talk to you about our upcoming game through this interview.
We've been counting the days until we finally get to meet you for a long time. We hope to be able to tell you all about our excitement, passion, as well as talk to you about what makes BRIXITY special.
BRIXITY - The Kindest World In The World
BRIXITY is a city builder game where you use a special material called "Brix" to build things, and heal the Earth at the same time.
It is a world where you can do anything. Even if that 'anything' ends up being something weird, or something that's different from what others perceive as normal, it's a world where you can be yourself. We have worked tirelessly to create a special world that players can use as their own safe space.
Maybe that's why the world of BRIXITY could be summarized as a game set in a "kind future". BRIXITY takes place in our world 500 years after life on Earth went extinct. Humanity learned to live a life of comfort on Mars with the help of advanced technology and robots, but always longed to return to their homeworld to make it inhabitable once more. In such an optimistic and refreshing Sci-fi world, we hope the players will enjoy every moment playing the game with a smile on their faces. (laughs)
Live My Life In My Own, Hand-Made City
If we have to pick the core experience of BRIXITY, I think there are two main parts. The first is "Everyone can place Brix and create the city of their imagination." Using the small Brix to shape every aspect of the city just as you like, expressing yourself and customizing freely. Using Blueprints, you can also enjoy the fun process of recreating buildings you like.
The second part I think is "A giant world to immerse yourself in." From a distance, your city might look tiny and cute, but inside awaits an open world exceeding your wildest imaginations. With your personalized Mypo, walk the streets of your city, exploring everything you've created, and experience the BRIXITY life freely. Climb to the top of tall buildings reaching for the skies, speak with the Pipos living their lives in the city, and interact with the world as it is, just like you would in real life.
Now you might wonder what we put the most effort into during the process of creating this experience. Simply put, instead of having the players following a set path to the right answer, we want every player create their very own space within the game.
Humans have a desire to create, and I think we all want to showcase our creativity and express ourselves in some way. But in real life, not everyone is given the opportunity to do so properly.
Because of that, we have been doing our best to make sure that our players will be able to create freely, able to think "I can make this!" or "I made something amazing!" as they are playing BRIXITY.
We want to send the message that the result of the process of creating something from your own imagination is the "right answer."

Beautiful And Special, No Matter How You Build It
But the road to creating such an experience has been anything but smooth. In the early stages of development, we tried to create a way to have players in the same place, creating things together. But then we realized that the sense of achievement we were looking for couldn't be attained just by building one single building.
Then, after countless hours of contemplation and trial and error, we expanded past the concept of just creating a building, and came to the conclusion that the player had to be able to build and design an entire city. And with that realization, we evolved the game to one where you could fill a city with your creations, ending up with the BRIXITY we have today.
On one hand, we spent a lot of time designing the art style so that the color palette, compositions, and rules would allow players' creations to look as lovely as possible. For example, we wanted to make even the silliest building would look pretty enough, but that it would get more beautiful the more time and effort spent on it. (laugh)
Apart from that, I feel we have spent a lot of effort on making the game be easily accessible for everyone. We know it's not an easy task for everyone to create something on a completely blank canvas.
A phrase that stuck with us while debating how to create the game was "What we are making isn't Photoshop, it's Paint." Photoshop is one of those tools that honed professionals use for work, whereas Paint is more "Wait, this brush is a thing? Let's try using it! Huh, not bad!" Giving the player a bit less pressure and allowing for a more immersive experience.
We have designed BRIXITY so that new players will be able to both follow along Blueprints to easily create buildings, but also have an easy time creating something completely from scratch. We want to give our players the experience of being able to comfortably express their creative side while trying all the features out at their own pace.
Pipos - Unique And Precious, Just Like Us
Pipo is the name of the small human characters inhabiting the world of BRIXITY. They're not only there just as something to collect; they also make the world a bit more colorful and lively, and placing them all throughout your city will make you feel like it is a place filled with special friends.
Pipos have cube-shaped bodies, just like the Brix the city is made out of. We also designed the characters to be the same size and shape regardless of gender, and instead emphasize their unique styles and personalities instead. Just like all of us living in the real world.
Every person in the world is unique in their very own way, each with their own life—kind of like the main character of their own story. In the same way, each Pipo in BRIXITY is their own main character, and we designed the game and every character within it to have that "special feeling."
Also, while some of them might look ordinary, we've put in a lot of effort in the characters, from appearance to background, story, dialogue lines, behavior, art, and overall experience while playing. Hopefully our efforts will make the players feel a sense of kinship in a way, looking at the Pipos living in their city.
Wishes And Hopes From BRIXITY
We just hope that through BRIXITY, you’ll be able to experience the joy of turning your imaginations, ideas, dreams, and hopes into reality. We also hope that from all those achievements and the kindness from the dialogue of our Pipos, you’ll be able to feel that warm cheery feeling that it’s okay to live as your true self.
We believe that a good game encourages you to think that “I can do it,” and gives you hope to keep going even when you hit a wall. And of course, it also reminds you of happiness and a fond nostalgia to the days when you enjoyed playing the game. It is our hope that BRIXITY can deliver all those moments.
When we were developing BRIXITY, we really cherished everything: from one single Brix on the road, buildings that are each unique, yet harmonious, to Pipos that freely roam around the beautiful city, and the warm and inviting atmosphere surrounding the city.
Since the beginning of the project, we always dreamed that BRIXITY would be a game where we create together with our players. We want our players to build their own space around this welcoming land, coming up with endless stories and imaginations, painting this world called BRIXITY more colorful and bright.
We truly believe that this dream of ours will soon be a reality. We’re really proud of BRIXITY and can’t wait for you all to experience it for yourselves.

BRIXITY will be available in Early Access and some time later with the official launch. We hope that everyone who plays BRIXITY will feel all of our wishes and love that we have for BRIXITY.
See you August 24th for an amazing Brixperience!
